You throw away the outside and cook the inside. Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside. What did you eat?

An ear of corn. You husk it, then throw the husk and silk away(the outside), then cook it and eat the kernels (the "inside" that is now the "outside"), then throw away the corn cob (now the "inside"). Maybe I'm just a simple Texas boy, but that answer works in my neck of the woods ;)
