lateral thinking for sugar cubes

There are three men who go to a coffee shop and in total they all purchase 12 sugar cubes.The amount of sugar cubes each man has is odd.How many sugar cubes do all of the man have?

Do you mean odd as in weird or odd as in 1,3,5,7?
A weird amount would be having a large amount of sugar or a small amount. You never said anything about numbers except for 12. But what would a high or low amount be? I personally think 1 to 3 sugar cubes is average so 4 sugar cubes would be an odd amount. What do you think is an average amount?

add 3 cubes in each coffee cup and drink and take one each with them of the 3 left
