Insurance man
posted by Fullmetal - March 19 2013 05:21:34 PM
An insurance salesman goes up to a house to sell insurance. He knocks on the door. A woman answers, and he asks how many children she has - and how old they are.

The woman is not too fond of the sellers so she gives him a riddle:- I'll give you a hint. If you multiply the ages of my three children you will get 36
Insurance salesman makes a quick mental calculation and tells the woman that it is not enough.- Ok, said the woman, if you add up the ages of my kids so you get the number of the neighboring house.
Insurance salesman looks at the house next door, but even that does not solve the riddle.
- All right, said the woman, you will get a last hint: My oldest child plays the piano.

a*b*c=36;
so possible values of (a+b+c)=
(1+1+36=38)(1+2+18=21)(1+3+12=16)(1+4+9=14)(1+6+6=13)(2+2+9=13)(2+3+6=11)
(3+3+4=10)
he was not able to solve the riddle just by looking at tha next door so number will be 13 so (a,b,c)=(1,6,6)or(2,2,9)
but in first case there is no such thing like oldest son so ans is 2,2,9.
