Half glass full (lateral thinking)

Water is flowing from a pump at an non uniform rate. You have been given a glass. How can you measure that the glass is half full?

Umm... If the glass is symmetrical (square, cylindrical, etc), then you fill it up, then pour out water till you reach such a point that, when the glass is tilted, the water line touches the upper end of the bottom of the glass, and the lower end of the open part. Its difficult to explain it, but I hope you understood what I said... :)
