There were 6 eggs in a basket. Six people took an egg each. Why is there still 1 more egg left in the basket?

There was really 7 eggs in the basket. It's kinda like saying "there was a hundred people there" when in actuality there was 112 or some such. That means that the statement "there were 6 eggs in a basket" is still true, simply by ommission. I believe this is also a play on words. 7 eggs in the basket to start with, 6 people take one, there's one more left.

One person took the basket along with an egg. That's what happens when distributors take their cut.

Basket had a hen, someone put egg back, someone supplied the basket.
