Clock Riddle

How many times does the minute hand cross the hour hand from 12 noon to 12 midnight?

Hint 1: Don't count both the 12's as they meet there, they don't 'cross'.

Hint 2: Your initial instinctive answer is probably incorrect.

Try to solve this logically, and post the answer. I'll post the answer in a week.

Finally a good riddle! My attempt:

1304-1306 = 1
1409-1411 = 2
1514-1516 = 3
1619-1621 = 4
1724-1726 = 5
1829-1831 = 6
1934-1936 = 7
2039-2041 = 8
2144-2146 = 9
2249-2251 = 10
2354-2356 = 11

11 times is my answer.

As I said, your first answer would be incorrect, and unfortunately, it is.. Though your approach was close.. Now take your wristwatch, and try it for yourself... You'll be surprised with the answer... :)

I have come up with the answer 10.

I believe budunk's mistake was counting 2354-2356.The minute and hour hands connect, but they do not cross. Both hands reach their destination together, simultaneously.

I realized that mistake soon after posting it but haven't had time to change it. Is 10 the correct answer?
